Now that you have explored strategies for responding to and critically analyzing another author's short story, it is time to experiment with authoring your own short story. One of the best ways to enhance your understanding of the conventions of short story writing is to write your own short story. You have several options from which to choose to complete the task of writing your own short story. You may do any of the following:

Assignment:
write a several page short story and email it to two other students in the class and your professor for response
or

write a several page short story and submit it for publication on one of the web sites listed below (e-mail your professor noting the site) or

join in a group written short story on one of the sites listed below (e-mail your professor noting the site) .
