Other questions may remain about a short story even after several readings. Reading and re-reading a short story by itself might not yield complete answers to all questions that arise. So it is often useful to talk over questions and answers with other readers--students and teachers. That's what class discussion and, in the Literature Online course, the online discussion forums are for. Many times the answers to questions call for judgment, reasoning, and so they should be openly discussed to weigh the merits and demerits of such a notion.

The only objective that remains, then, is for you to decide what this short story says to you about life--maybe even your life. You can jot notes below or access the discussion forum directly to answer the question. (Remember to copy and paste your response into a word processor before turning this page since some Web browsers delete your typing as soon as you turn the page.) If you are satisfied with the answers you make on the practice page, you can highlight one (drag your mouse across it with the left mouse key held down), copy <Ctrl+c> it, and paste it <Ctrl+v> into the corresponding "reply" box at the actual forum site. You may also go directly to the Discussion Forum to respond.
