Your Options at the College

Access to your Front Page or Web Course in a Box sites is maintained by college technical support staff on college servers.  It's free to you and commercial free.   In addition, training is available to you in scheduled workshops and in at-your-desktop tutoring by appointment with the Technology Faculty in Residence.  In addition, you and your students have email and VIVA clearances, with remote access to VIVA already in place for students and desktop access for faculty.  As of Fall, 1998, however, no chat software is being used at the college.

Commercial Options

There are "free" services available, but their sites come decorated with ads which restrict the size of the screen that can be used for your content.  In addition, your Internet Service Provider for your home computer might have a cheap website package (usually up to 5 Mb of space) where you could place webpages you make.

Here are samples of free services that allow you a homepage, listserv, and/or chat in a community of websites or chats.

Homework Challenge: Take a look at their rules and regs; then at samples in "My Delphi" or at the sample below.  Register yourself at one of the online communities and try out their web page building template; they'll email you further information.  Write down your password or a hint for it and save it where you can find it in case it's a while before you return.
