Getting Acquainted

One get-acquainted or ice-breaking activity commonly used is a scavenger hunt. The scavenger hunt has also been used as a library exercise when the targets are items in a virtual or real library.

The usual scavenger hunt directions on a handed out list tell students to find other students with a characteristic on the list and write down the person's name or get the person's signature.  It's best if the characteristics don't overlap a lot.  One person can sign one line on each form in order to maximize mixing. For instance--
