You should notice that the set descriptions and stage directions tend to focus on two sorts of things:

• objects (furniture, household items, etc., that function as symbols or that direct our attention to something significant) and

• actions (movements, gestures, groupings of characters, etc., that communicate emotions and concepts).

As you go through the play, try to identify three significant actions and three significant objects.

Return to your word processor (maximize or re-open it*).  List three significant actions and three significant objects.  Briefly explain why each action/object is significant, what it communicates to the audience and what it contributes to the overall effect of the play.   *Click here for a hint on re-opening a word processor.
