Objectives

2. You should be willing (and with additional practice able) to understand a poem by analyzing its imagery, sound effects--including rhythm, rhyme, and repetition--and context in history and the poet's life.

3. You should consider alternative possibilities for what the poem means.

4. You should also consider what it says about your own life.
